Background:

A first in the VR arena, Ctrl is a compelling drama which follows the story of a young gamer embroiled in a e­-sports competition in the midst of a war at home.

Ctrl is directed by Nigel Townsend, who has more than 30 years experience directing theatre, and written by Abraham Parker, an impressive graduate of the Royal Court Young Writer’s Programme who pushes the boundaries of theatrical storytelling. Working alongside them is Sound Engineer Paul Weir. Paul's most recent credit is No Man's Sky, an survival adventure game which features procedurally-generated content.

Plot description: 

You are invited to the final round of a VR e-sports tournament. From front row seats, you watch Liam, a talented young gamer and clear underdog, compete for the grand prize. Spurred on by the sneering hosts, Liam defeats each level in record time. But with victory in sight, Liam’s home life begins to interfere with his gameplay. As time runs out, you learn what it is that Liam is really fighting for.
